Hello all,

As of yesterday, all of the written pieces in Soft Star’s inaugural issue have been published here on Substack! I’d once again like to offer a HUGE thank you to all of the incredibly talented Issue One contributors for sharing their talents and being a part of this project. Soft Star would not exist without you, and that’s an amazing thing! I am wrapping up production of Issue One’s print edition and will post another update when it is live online.

Additionally, I’d like to congratulate the three Issue One contributors who I’ve nominated for the 2023 Pushcart Prize: Francine Witte, Dori Lumpkin, and Korinne West! You can read their respective nominated short stories using the links above.

For now, welcome to Soft Star Issue Two: Aurora. Over the next few months, I’ll be using this Substack to share stories of bitter winters, glowing veils, liminal spaces, and the vastness of eternity, all inspired by the splendor of the northern and southern lights. Stay tuned for breathtaking poetry, fiction, and nonfiction from Soft Star’s many talented contributors! And if you find yourself particularly inspired, you can find more information about submitting your own work to Issue Two here.
