Autumn lands,
but the world beyond walls is calling.
I pry the skylight open,
then I shove my head above by way of answer.
Serenaded by the sounds of cars and lights of cranes,
I feel so very lonely
and alive.
I look up at the stars
and sense that one of them is yours,
almost prepared to believe the myth
that I could never reach it
as long as it's there
and you love me too.
